Ultraviolet Glass

Ultraviolet glass ‌ is a kind of optical glass with high ultraviolet transmittance and low ultraviolet absorption. It is mainly used as window material of spectrometer, ultraviolet lens, optical filter, etc. It has short ultraviolet cut-off wavelength and high transmittance, and is commonly used in spectrometers, excimer laser optical systems, high energy laser systems, fiber optics and space.

Types of UV Glass

1. Fused silica Glass (JGS1/JGS2/JGS3)

Superior UV transmittance (>80% @185-250nm for JGS1)

Broad spectral range: 185-3500nm (JGS1/JGS2 for UV; JGS3 for IR)

Extremely low thermal expansion coefficient (5.5×10⁻⁷/℃)

2. UV-Transmitting Black Glass (Wood's Glass)

Opaque to visible light (400-700nm) with >85% UV transmittance (300-400nm)

Contains metal oxide dopants for bandgap engineering

3. Soda-Lime Silicate Shortwave UV Glass

Optimized for 254nm Hg lamp emission (transmittance >75%)

Cost-effective alternative to quartz (1/5 the price)

Chemically strengthened to 800MPa mechanical strength
